Why a Jain family calendar inside Jain Panchang?
Families often remember birthdays, anniversaries, religious occasions, visits, personal commitments and other important dates through different chat groups or individual calendars. Jain Panchang already provides a date-and-Tithi context, so Family adds a shared event layer without replacing the user's personal calendar or the Jain Panchang itself.
Invitations and approved membership
Family membership is intentional. Invitations identify the Family and the person inviting the user, and the recipient can join or decline. Shared Family information belongs to approved members rather than becoming visible simply because someone knows a Family name.
Shared Family event capacity
The current Family model uses a shared pool of active event capacity. Each current approved Family member contributes capacity to the Family pool. Any approved member can create events using the shared pool rather than being limited to a separate personal allocation. Only active, not-yet-lapsed events consume that active capacity; older events can remain in history while freeing capacity for future events.
If a member leaves, available capacity drops accordingly. Existing active events are not automatically deleted simply to fit the lower capacity; instead, new event creation can remain blocked while usage is at or above the current limit.
Personal, Family and Sangh stay separate
A personal reminder belongs to one user. A Family event is shared with approved Family members. A Sangh event belongs to its community context. Keeping these layers distinct reduces accidental oversharing.
Alarm-style reminders
For supported event reminders, Jain Panchang uses a prominent alarm-clock-style experience rather than relying only on a small passive notification. The intended experience includes clear controls such as Snooze and Dismiss.
Sync and device changes
Family synchronization workflows verify membership, fetch the current Family/member state, retrieve events, reconcile local cached data and align local alarms with the latest shared event state.
Leaving a Family
A visible Leave Family action allows a member to leave. Leaving affects membership and Family capacity, and local cached membership and alarms connected to that Family should also be reconciled.
A private Family layer inside Jain Panchang
The Family feature is designed for approved members who want to coordinate family events and reminders in the same app they already use for Jain Panchang. It is separate from the public Jain Business Directory and separate from Sangh community communication.
Family invitations make membership explicit. Once approved, members can work with shared Family events rather than maintaining isolated copies on each person’s phone.
Shared active-event capacity
Family event capacity is pooled at the Family level. Each current approved member contributes active-event capacity to the Family pool, and approved members can create events using that shared pool. Events that have already lapsed can remain in history while no longer consuming active capacity.
If a member leaves, capacity reduces accordingly. Existing active events are not automatically deleted merely to force the Family under its new limit. If active usage is at or above available capacity, new event creation can pause until active usage falls below the available capacity.
Family reminders alongside Jain Calendar use
A family may use the feature for birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, religious programmes or other important reminders. This does not turn every Family event into a Jain religious observance. Jain Panchang keeps the event system flexible while its dedicated Panchang pages continue to handle Jain Tithi, Jain month and other religious-calendar references.
Leaving a Family and keeping membership accurate
Users can leave a Family. Membership and locally scheduled Family alarms should then reconcile with the current server state so old Family reminders do not continue simply because a device retained stale local data.
